The Isle of Sheppey in Kent is England’s second-largest island. It offers expressive skies, subtle light and landscapes that are there to be cherished, or despoiled. Even away from centres of habitation, the impact of human activity on nature is visible. Much of the land is enclosed with entry forbidden. While a huge swathe has been reclaimed from the estuary for the speedy importation of vehicles, Warden Point erodes, surrendered to the tides. Although the future is inescapable, the choices we make ensure it is contestable.
Ten images were shown in a solo show at West Greenwich Library from 4 January through to 4 February 2023.
These photographs were previously shown at London’s Ambika P3 Gallery from Friday 25 November through to Thursday 2 December 2021.
